To be honest I really wanted God to say he would be My Healer! But I was definitely in a hellish storm, so Anchor worked.

It feels a little crazy to be writing about a healthy lifestyle and nutrition right now with all that’s going on in the world with the Coronavirus. But maybe it’s perfect timing. It is definitely in the realm of health and wellbeing.
In both podcasts Ashley and I made it clear that a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about our bodies and what we eat but also about our minds and hearts. In this time of uncertainty, questions like how bad will it get and how long will it last remain unknown. And it’s not just getting the virus but all the economic outcomes that go along with it.
As a person of faith, I cling to the many scriptures that describe God’s goodness and his provision for his children. I pray for all those affected by the virus. I pray for healing for those who have it and for those who are helping our human family with it. And because I have been through difficult times in the past where God has sustained me, I can trust Him now. And you can too. Here is an example from my life of His love.
When my feet seemed to be broken and I could hardly walk much less surf, I turned to God. I had an extreme case of Plantar Fasciitis and it had been going on over a year. One of my prayers during that time was this, “God, who do you want to be for me during this painful injury?” I spent a few days praying this prayer and listening, growing in confidence that He did want to be something for me. Was it possible that He could only be this something with this injury? I believe so.
While praying this I heard in my heart, my center, “Anchor.”
Excitedly, I combed through the scriptures for every use of an Anchor in the bible. God wanted to be my anchor, and although there were many examples, I landed on him being my anchor in the storm. To be honest I really wanted God to say He would be My Healer! But I was definitely in a hellish storm, so Anchor worked. “Okay God, hold me tight,” I prayed, “but also heal me.”
One day as I was driving to pick up one of my clients a thought seared my mind. I think there were some dark clouds in the sky when I heard this, “The storm always passes.” I thought, yes that’s true! Living in an area that is prone to Hurricanes, I knew the storm, however notorious the name, Bertha, Fran, Florence, had always passed. I was so stoked and full of confidence that soon I would not be in excruciating pain. Debilitating pain.
Just so you don’t think I hadn’t tried other things here is a short list: Physical therapy, stretches, massages, steroid injections (3), chiropractic, acupuncture, laser therapy which cost 100.00 dollars each, diet changes. You name it I had tried it over the course of the year. The pain ranged from dull throbbing to stabbing. Most people get it in one foot, I had it in both feet.
It was about six months later, when I watched a you tube video from a man in New York who had the same issue, and this was his solution. Running on his toes. Terrified my feet would be worse but with a small amount of hope I ran around a retention pond near my home with those shoes that are like bare feet with toes. It worked almost instantly after my first run. My feet were better the next day!
So here we are on the cusp of a virus plague and I am not afraid. Yes, lives are at stake, yes money is tight and will probably get tighter and yes, they just closed the beaches ?. But God never changes. He is good, He is powerful. He is love and He is ultimately in charge. When we turn our lives over to Him, His promises go into full effect! He invites everyone into His family, no one is excluded. What do you have to lose?
When the dust clears we’ll all want to get back on track. Listen to our ideas on a heathy lifestyle and our take on food and diet in Episode 13 and Episode14 respectively.
